How do you measure the loss of a 5 year old girl? Revisited

Originally aired the week of 1/12/15

The first Precious Lives story remembered five year old Laylah Petersen. Six months have passed since Laylah was shot and killed while sitting on her grandfather’s lap. Authorities still don’t know who’s responsible. Last week police increased the reward amount to $35,000. This week we revisit the story about how Laylah’s family is coping with her loss.

How do you measure the loss of a five year old girl? Laylah Christiauna Petersen was a granddaughter, a daughter, a sister, a niece, a classmate, and a best friend. Now she’s another face of gun deaths in Milwaukee. Laylah was shot and killed in November, while sitting on grandfather’s lap, in her grandparents home, reading with her older sister before bedtime. A bullet pierced the wall striking Laylah in her head. The family still doesn’t know who did it, or why.

If you know anything about the the case call Milwaukee Police at (414) 935-7360 Authorities will award $35,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person who fired the shot that killed Laylah.
