A teenage girl’s gun violence survival guide

“My house right here! They down the street, like three houses down, hiding they gun. Somebody down there dead. I know who it is. What if they wasn’t done? What if they seen me and like ‘hey she might snitch on us so... lit it off on her too.’ Like that’s what’s all going in my head.”

We hear a lot about young men falling victim to or becoming perpetrators of gun violence. Young men who don’t expect to live past the age of of 25, but still try to survive. The young women in their midst have survival tactics too. This week we meet two young ladies who share how they succeed, even while living amid drug deals and violence.
