A Church Moves from Prayer to Action to Prevent Youth Violence

Probation is like the hardest thing I ever had to do. You might think it’s a joke but like seriously probation is very hard. It was mainly like, probation was my job.”

24 year old Isiah Johnson was a victim of a shooting not just once but twice in one year. Each time, hours after leaving the hospital he went straight to All People’s Church in Milwaukee’s Harambee neighborhood. He stood before the congregation and asked for help. In response the congregation assembled a men’s group to help Isiah find his purpose, and admitted that prayer alone won’t keep Isiah safe.

Pastor Steve Jerbi from All People's Church was featured in episode #040: How Milwaukee Faith Leaders Talk About Gun Violence
